Appointments
We operate an appointment based system to provide as efficient a service as possible. We do not provide a walk-in clinic.
For routine appointments it is best to call the receptionist after 11am when the phone lines are less busy to book in advance.
For urgent on the day appointments please call before 10am.
Each appointment is 10mins. For patient safety we normally deal with only one problem per consultation. If you have more than one issue please book an extended consultation.
We can only deal with one patient in any given appointment slot. If you have multiple family members who need to be seen, please inform the receptionist at the time of booking who will try to cluster the appointments one after the other where possible.
If you arrive late for your appointment or miss your appointment you will be asked to rebook as it is disruptive to other patients who have arrived on time for their appointments.
If you no longer need your appointment please inform the practice as soon as possible so that the appointment can be offered to another patient. Missed appointments deny other patients the opportunity to see the GP and result in longer waiting times for appointments for all patients. Repeated missed appointments will result in removal from the practice list.
Ordering a Prescription
To reduce errors and for safety we do not accept prescription requests over the phone.
To order your prescription please:
1- Visit airtonmedical.ie and use our online Prescription Request Form or
2- Fill in the request form and leave it at the reception or
3- Ask your Pharmacist to order on your behalf
Please allow 2 full working days for your prescription to be sent directly to your chosen pharmacy. If you want to check on the progress of a prescription, please call the pharmacy first.
Please note we do not routinely prescribe sleeping tablets or sedatives as these are known to have harmful effects. As per practice policy we will be stopping these medications for any patients already taking these.
Zero Tolerance Policy
We treat all patients with dignity and respect, and in return expect you to do the same. We do not tolerate abuse of any kind.
Patients felt to be in breach of this policy by any member of staff will receive a warning letter. Any further breaches will result in removal from the practice list.
Chaperone Policy
If you would like a chaperone present for your consultation or examination please request this from the Receptionist or the Doctor and we will happily arrange this for you.
Feedback and Complaints
We welcome feedback both good and bad as it helps us to improve our service. If you are unhappy with any aspect of the service you have received please inform a member of staff who will try to rectify the issue if possible.
If you have a Formal Complaint, please ask for our Complaints Policy Leaflet at the reception desk.
House Calls
House calls take a lot of time and are disruptive to services for other patients. Generally, patients who are too unwell to attend the surgery should be seen in the hospital setting. We therefore only do house calls in exceptional circumstances such as end of life care.
Sick Notes
Sick note requests normally require a consultation with the GP for review and approval.
We hope you find the above information useful and we look forward to caring for your medical needs.
